Why have people lost confidence in Used Cars?

A recent survey carried out by Experian, the global information Solutions Company revealed that women are more likely to be at risk when it comes to buying a used car; they would be influenced by the price of a car more so than the make and the model or even the age.
Not all cheap cars are bargains; sometimes they may appear cheaper at the point of sale but may hit you with a huge bill once you have driven away. We recently carried out a field survey to see what people actually look for when buying a used car, here is what we found:

• 63% men and 81% of the women tested did not realise if the car had been damaged and painted.
• 23% men and 25% of the women did not know how to check the oil and the water levels in a car.
• 44% men and 32% of the women did not hear an obvious noise when test driving a car.
• 54% of the subjects approved a car because of its presentation rather than looking for any defects.

We also learned:

Some of the stolen cars are being cloned to disguise their identity, this means that their may be several cars on the road which have the same registration number as well as the exact make and the model.

• 5 out of hundred cars checked reveal mileage discrepancies.
